About the Treasure Coast Kennel Club

The Treasure Coast Kennel Club (TCKC) is a welcoming community of dog lovers dedicated to education, sportsmanship, and responsible dog ownership. Made up of both enthusiastic beginners and experienced canine professionals, our club brings together people who share a passion for raising, training, and competing with their dogs in a positive, supportive environment.

As an associate member of the American Kennel Club (AKC), the Treasure Coast Kennel Club proudly supports responsible breeders of purebred dogs while also recognizing the important role that training, ethics, and education play in building strong relationships between people and their canine companions. Whether you are new to the dog world or have years of experience in competition and performance events, TCKC offers a place where your love for dogs is understood, encouraged, and shared.

And yes—we genuinely enjoy hearing your dog stories, even when your family members might not.
Serving the Florida Treasure Coast
The Treasure Coast Kennel Club serves members across Indian River, St. Lucie, Martin, and Okeechobee counties, uniting dog enthusiasts throughout Florida’s Treasure Coast region. Our members come from diverse backgrounds but share common goals: promoting responsible dog ownership, advancing canine education, and supporting ethical participation in AKC-recognized activities.

Since its founding in the late 1960s, TCKC has remained committed to strengthening the bond between dogs and their handlers while contributing positively to the local community.

Our Commitment to Education
Education is at the heart of everything we do at the Treasure Coast Kennel Club. We believe that informed dog owners create healthier, happier dogs and stronger communities. One of our core philosophies is that experienced members have a responsibility to share their knowledge with newer members and the public.

Through training opportunities, mentoring, and educational programs, we aim to:
-
Promote responsible dog ownership
-
Encourage proper training and socialization
-
Support ethical breeding practices
-
Foster respect and sportsmanship within canine competition

Our educational efforts extend beyond our membership to benefit the wider community, helping dog owners make informed decisions that improve the lives of both dogs and people.

Youth Programs & Future Generations
The Treasure Coast Kennel Club has a long-standing tradition of supporting youth involvement in dog sports and education. We proudly offer Junior Showmanship courses and host Star Bright 4-H Obedience Club meetings, helping young handlers develop confidence, responsibility, and a lifelong appreciation for dogs.

By investing in youth programs, TCKC ensures that the values of good sportsmanship, ethical competition, and compassionate dog care continue for generations to come.

Community Partnerships & Rescue Support
In support of our educational mission, the Treasure Coast Kennel Club partners with local Humane Societies and rescue organizations throughout the region. These partnerships allow us to demonstrate responsible dog ownership, effective training techniques, and the benefits of working with rescued dogs.

We believe that rescues—including altered mixed-breed dogs—can be exceptional companions, and that proper training and education enhance the quality of life for both dogs and their families. Our outreach efforts help bridge the gap between breeders, rescues, and the community, reinforcing the idea that all dogs deserve knowledgeable, committed owners.
Our Philosophy
At TCKC, we believe:
-
Education is essential to responsible dog ownership
-
Knowledge should be shared freely and generously
-
Sportsmanship matters both inside and outside the show ring
-
Community involvement strengthens the dog world as a whole
By upholding these values, the Treasure Coast Kennel Club creates an environment where learning, respect, and camaraderie thrive.

Our History
Founded in the late 1960s, the Treasure Coast Kennel Club has a rich history rooted in the AKC sportsmanship guidelines for canine conformation and performance events. For decades, we have remained committed to preserving the traditions of ethical competition, responsible breeding, and mutual respect among dog enthusiasts.

Today, TCKC continues to honor that legacy while adapting to the evolving needs of modern dog owners—always with education, integrity, and a love for dogs at the center of our mission.
