Treasure Coast Kennel Club offers Junior Showmanship training classes.
Also Called Junior Handler. Participation in Junior Showmanship is intended to
encourage Juniors to learn how to care for and present different breeds.
Part of the educational process could include apprenticeship or assisting professional handlers.
Junior Showmanship shall be judged solely on the ability and skill of the Juniors
in handling their dogs as in the breed ring. The show qualities of the dogs shall not be
considered. Junior Handlers shall not be required to exchange dogs.
The judge must excuse a handler and dog from the ring if, in his opinion, the handler cannot
properly control the dog. In this class the instructors will teach the juniors all the necessary
skills for competing in AKC Junior Showmanship.
